The Succession catalogues were published in conjunction with previous exhibitions displayed at the Art Gallery of Hamilton.
"On an uncharacteristically warm morning in early February 2016, our Curator of Contemporary Art, Melissa Bennett, and I met Shelley Niro in her Brantford studio. We were hoping to include her work in an upcoming group exhibition for which we had written a major grant. We did not get the grant, but what transpired was a far greater reward for the AGH"
Shelley Niro is a Mohawk filmmaker and visual artist from New York and Ontario. She is known for her photographs using herself and female family members cast in contemporary positions to challenge the stereotypes and clichés of Native American women.
